AbstractAbstract
[en] Unlike fission reactors, fusion reactors can be designed as to reduce significantly the problems of radioactive waste disposal. As part of the fusion materials program, we are investigating the implications of the choice of materials, of the potential variations in the composition of those materials, and, to some extent, of reactor design on waste disposal and the alternative, recycling. This paper includes recent calculations on first wall, blanket, magnet, and magnet structure materials as well as a discussion of their implications. The tools and assumptions that are used in these analyses will be described. 15 refs., 4 tabs
