AbstractAbstract
[en] A yellow deposit was observed to form on the surface of a spent PWR fuel specimen exposed to corrosion in deionized water. In a parallel experiment with only groundwater leachant, no such deposits was observed. The extent and thickness of the deposit appeared to increase over a period of 5 months of air storage. Subsequent examination, including XRD analysis, showed that the deposit consisted of dehydrated schoepite, UO3.0.8H2O. (authors)
