[en] A substoichiometric radiochemical method has been developed for the determination of microgram amounts of mercury employing potassium ethyl xanthate as reagent and chloroform as extractant. Substoichiometric extraction has been studied as a function of pH and effect of diverse metal ions has also been critically examined. The method has been proposed for the determination of mercury content of water samples. (orig.)
