AbstractAbstract
[en] Between May 1987 and October 1989, the authors have treated patients with esophageal carcinoma with a therapy that consisted of 4 combined modalities of radiation and cisplatin, and 90 evaluable patients are included in this review. Their T classifications, according to the UICC grading (1987), were T2 for 7 patients, T3 for 40, and T4 for 43. Thirty-five of the 90 patients had a complete response (CR), and the overall response rate was 74.4% (67/90). In the patients given over 150 mg/m2 of cisplatin, the CR rate was 75%. The two year survival rate, using Kaplan-Meier's method, was 21.6%, the median survival being 10.5 months. (author)
