AbstractAbstract
[en] A clone, pUN K1-45, containing a 3.9 Kb fragment from the P. falciparum Thai isolate K1, was constructed. This clone was specifically hybridized with P. falciparum DNA and not with other plasmodial species, e.g., P. knowlesi, P. cynomolgi, P. chabaudi and P. vivax nor with man and mosquito. It was able to detect P. falciparum infected blood at parasitemia levels of 0.005%. Dot blot hybridization, using pUN K1-45 as DNA probe revealed that this clone could detect 17 isolates of P. falciparum infected blood from northern Thailand. (author). 8 refs, 2 figs
