[en] The need to generate confidence in performance assessments that rely on computer based simulations of a radioactive waste repository and its surroundings requires that a quality assurance (QA) policy is adopted that covers all aspects of the assessment. This paper reports on a review of current QA practice for repository performance assessments undertaken as a support study for the CEC PACOMA project. To illustrate the difficulties and benefits of using an integrated range of procedures for development and use of software, the paper includes case studies in the application of QA techniques in developing probabilistic risk assessment codes. 11 refs
