AbstractAbstract
[en] The objective of the Darlington Project is to develop, install and commission a full safeguards scheme at the Darlington facility to meet safeguards goals from the very initiation of operation. In order to achieve effective core fuel safeguards in such a complex facility it was decided to develop and install core discharge monitor (CDM) system which both monitors the refuelling activities around a reactor core and counts the number of irradiated fuel bundles removed from the core. The CDM information is then compared with the facility records and any discrepancies are resolved. The Project phases, the facility, refuelling operations, CDM system and basis of its operation are described, as well as future prospects of the Project. 5 figs
