AbstractAbstract
[en] Binary alloys of zirconium with 3 to 23% of iron by weight, were made by diffusion at 8750 C of iron onto thin plates of zirconium. Moessbauer spectroscopy and optic metallography indicated the phases Zr2 Fe and Zr4 Fe, the bulk of which probably formed during the diffusion. These phases were confirmed by electron probe microanalysis. Moessbauer spectra showed quadrupole doublets with the same hyperfine interaction parameters in both phases, but with clearly distinct asymmetries. (author)
