[en] An 40Ar-39Ar investigation has been carried out on amphibole from an allochthonous unit of the Plateau d'Aigurande (northwestern French Massif Central). A 390 Ma age can be attributed to the metamorphism of the amphibolite facies. The event is contemporaneous with the massif structuration, which accompanied the collision of Breton and Gondwanian plates during the Variscan orogeny. The age of 390 Ma is in accordance with those obtained elsewhere in other parts of the French Variscan Belt
