AbstractAbstract
[en] A prospective randomized trail was undertaken to assess the efficacy of hydroxyurea as a radiation sensitizer. Disease control rates achieved significance (p<0.01) values only at 2 and 3 months post-radiation. At the end of 2 years of follow-up there was no significant difference in the disease control rate between the control and the experimental group. The toxicity in the experimental group was acceptable. One patient had severe vomiting; 13% showed severe mucositis, 4.5% had erythema of the treatment area and 40% showed dry desquamation. There seems to be no added advantage of hydroxyurea and radiation over radiation alone. (author). 12 refs., 2 tabs
