AbstractAbstract
[en] Software modules are being developed to provide corrosion behavior information for the electric power utility industry. They encompass traditional databases that contain corrosion rate and other uninterpreted information, and expert systems that assist in failure analysis, materials selection, and corrosion control options. Users are queried interactively to establish environmental conditions in the systems of interest, current material performance, and type of information required. Modules under development provide: (1) fatigue crack growth rates for structural materials in nuclear environments, (2) rates of stress corrosion cracking and intergranular attack of Alloy 600 in pressurized water reactor secondary water, and recommended operating changes for minimizing corrosion, (3) failure analysis, materials selection, and corrosion control in condenser systems, (4) assessment and control of microbiologically influenced corrosion, (5) materials selection and corrosion control in service water systems, and (6) failure analysis, materials selection, and corrosion control options for critical areas of wet flue gas desulfurization systems. 5 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab
