AbstractAbstract
[en] The separation of sulfur isotopes between sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfite was studied using an ion exchange chromatographic technique. A band of sulfurous acid solution was displaced by a sulfuric or hydrochrolic acid solution in a column packed with aminated polystyrene-divinly benzene resin. S-34 isotope was enriched at the rear of the band and S-32 at the front. The experiment was conducted at varied flow rate, concentration, and temperature conditions. The separative power of the process determined at these conditions ranged from 1.4 to 3.9 g/cm3/yr and the HETP (height equivalent to a theoretical plate) values from 0.009 to 0.017 cm. (author)
