AbstractAbstract
[en] Percentage elongation (E) measured during tensile testing depends on the gauge length (L) and cross sectional area (A) of the sample. Relations between these parameters at room temperature and elevated temperature (300 C) testing for Zr-2.5% Nb nuclear reactor pressure tubes material were obtained. These are useful in converting percentage elongation obtained with one set of gauge dimensions to another. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) measured during tensile testing for Zr-2.5% Nb can be expressed as a function of Vickers Hardness Number (VHN). This can be utilised in converting measured hardness values to UTS values and the vice versa. Various empirical relations already available were used to arrive at a best fit correlation to test data. An empirical formula is presented which gives UTS as a function of VHN for cold worked and stress relieved Zr-2.5% Nb material. (author). 7 refs., 3 figs., 3 tabs
