AbstractAbstract
[en] Biomass is increasingly attracting attention as a future energy source. Forest biomass production offers some benefits: it is suitable for our climate and soil and it fits with Agricultural Policy to reduce the surplus of agricultural production. Another point of view is the human made part of the ''greenhouse effect''. Conversion of biomass is one aspect of a fossils fuel substitute. However, the environmental impacts of such a system are not yet investigated. In this paper some considerations of utilizing forest biomass as a source of energy are presented. Considerable knowledge of some aspects is available but it is widely spread in special fields. Great efforts must be made in order to be able to identify and prevent future unexpected and damaging impacts before introducing this promising technology on a large scale. Our work is a first attempt of an overview. (Author)
