AbstractAbstract
[en] The programme of radon surveys in homes throughout the UK has led to the discovery of thousands of homes with concentrations above the Action Level of 200 Bq.m-3. In such cases, the householder is informed of the result, advised to take remedial action and given general information on radon and remedies. Some who have taken action have sought confirmatory measurements from the National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB). Results from this exercise show that professional rather than personal intervention is more effective, that underfloor suction is the method of choice for solid floors, and that there are no impediments of significance to a successful remedial programme.
