AbstractAbstract
[en] To overcome the current crisis in the nuclear industry, and move to the next stage of its development we need to ensure safe operation of modern nuclear power stations and take a fresh look at nuclear technology. The new technology should bring about a radical improvement of nuclear power plant safety, economic consumption of natural uranium through fuel breeding, and socially acceptable disposal of radioactive waste whilst at the same time retaining the economic advantages of nuclear power. Some ways of solving these problems are suggested, which rely on consistent realization of the principle of ''inherent safety'' derived from existing nuclear technologies and past experience.
