AbstractAbstract
[en] The sintering behaviour of powder compacts of U O2 - Gd2 O3 has been studied as a function of atmosphere and Gd2 O3 content. Pellets were pressed from mechanically blended mixtures of U O2 and Gd2 O3 with compositions varying between 0 and 10 wt% Gd2 O3. The microstructure of the sintered pellets is considerably influenced by both atmosphere and Gd2 O3 content. Densification for U O2 - Gd2 O3 compact became lower in oxidizing atmosphere. This behaviour results from the difference in development of pore structure during sintering. (author)
