AbstractAbstract
[en] 15 resident nuclear safety inspectors have been working at Czech and Slovak nuclear power plants, where they have been supervising the adherence to safe operation limits and conditions. The average number of unscheduled shutdowns was one per reactor and year. From among the total 104 failures, 100 were assessed as level 0, 3 as level 1, and 1 as level 2 on the INES scale. Attention was particularly paid to the Bohunice V-1 reactor. Two IAEA missions, ASSET and OSART, were accomplished in 1990. The VR-1P VRABEC teaching reactor was launched and the LVR-15 research reactor was restarted. The regulatory and legislative activities of the State Surveillance body continued in 1990 as well.
