AbstractAbstract
[en] We have measured the transverse momentum spectrum of direct photons from 10 MeV/c to 1 GeV/c at center-of-mass rapidities 0., -0.5, -1, -1.41, -1.75, -2.12 and -2.42. The photon energy was determined with a BaF2 array. Photon identification was done by charged particle veto together with a precise measurement of the time-of-flight, by using the excellent timing properties of the light output of BaF2. Two separate methods of background evaluation were used: generation of photons with a Monte Carlo program and the use of the measured high pT-spectra combined with a physics model extrapolation. A comparison of the photon production in different established Monte Carlo generators leads to a consistency within ±10%. In contrast to previous and more recent publications no evidence for photon production at low-pT beyond the level of hadronic bremsstrahlung was found
