AbstractAbstract
[en] The optical spectra of the ion-photon emission that appears in the 390-600-nm region during ion sputtering of vanadium and titanium are studied. The results are compared with similar spectra that appear during electron-atom collisions. Based on experimental data for the distribution of the atoms over the excited levels, the contribution of collisional and electron-exchange mechanisms during formation of the excited states of the sputtered atoms is estimated. 15 refs., 2 figs
