AbstractAbstract
[en] Interpretable ESR spectra of several paramagnetic complexes in solid state are difficult to obtain, but reasonably good estimates of ESR anisotropy parameters could be obtained from an analysis of ESR line widths in liquid solutions using the equations given by Kivelson et al. Three major assumptions are used in the earlier works: 1) The expression of Hubbard can be used to relate correlation times associated with angular momenta and rotational motions. 2) Unresolved hyperfine structures make negligible contributions to line widths. 3) The variation of anisotropy parameters with temperature is negligibly small in the temperature range of interest. It may be possible to use 'minimum widths' (seen in the ESR line width against temperature plots) in determination of anisotropy parameters, without making the first two assumptions. Minimum line widths' can also be useful in identifying lines from specific species in the ESR spectra from mixtures of several species. The both contentions are examined. (author)
