[en] Here the authors present a model for describing the behavior of the magnetotail during quiet times. The model is based on studying the behavior of test particles, and their dynamics. The model is applied in regions where the drift velocity is much less than the thermal velocity, which is typical of the quiet-time magnetotail. Using this model they are able to derive the structure of the current sheet in a self consistent manner. The structure of the current sheet is found to be dependent upon the source distribution assumed for the ions
