[en] OH radicals are radicals which determine the photochemistry of the troposphere. The reactivity of OH radicals to organic substances is one of the fundamental criteria for the evaluation of abiotic decomposition. Details are given about the photochemical formation and reaction of OH radicals, the decomposition reactions of organic compounds in the gaseous phase, the determination of the specific rates of OH radical decomposition reactions, measuring methods for the determination of OH radical concentrations in the troposphere, selected results, OH concentration distributions obtained from model calculations, and the influence of trace gases on OH concentrations. Das OH-Radikal ist ein die Photochemie der Troposphaere bestimmendes Radikal. Die Reaktivitaet des OH-Radikals gegenueber organischen Substanzen ist deshalb fuer die Beurteilung des abiotischen Abbaus von fundamentaler Bedeutung. Inhalt: Photochemische Bildung und Reaktion von OH-Radikalen, Abbaureaktionen organischer Verbindungen in der Gasphase, Ermittlung von Geschwindigkeitskonstanten fuer die Abbaurealtion mit OH-Radikalen, Messmethoden zur Bestimmung der OH-Radikalkonzentration in der Troposphaere und ausgewaehlte Ergebnisse, aus Modellrechnung der erhaltene OH-Konzentrationsverteilungen und Beeinflussung der OH-Konzentration durch Spurengase, Zusammenfassung und Schlussfolgerungen, und Anregungen zum weiteren Forschungsbedarf.
