AbstractAbstract
[en] In this lecture, the activation analysis by the irradiation using TC-Pn facility and Cd cover which are not much utilized for activation analysis is reported. As compared with the activation analysis using often utilized pneumatic tubes, the irradiated neutron spectra are remarkably different. In the TC-Pn irradiation, the neutrons on high energy side are little, and in the Cd cover irradiation, on the contrary the thermal neutrons on low energy side are little. According to the kinds of samples, by utilizing these features, the information that cannot be obtained by ordinary irradiation can be easily obtained. The features of neutron spectra in the TC-Pn activation analysis, the utilization of the characteristics of little fast neutron component and little epithermal neutron component, and the demerit of the activation analysis by the TC-Pn are explained. In the KUR, the activation analysis by Cd cover irradiation method is rarely used. But if the amount of Cd metal is less than 20 g, and the time of irradiation is shorter than 30 min, it can be utilized. In Cd cover irradiation, samples are covered with the Cd metal which has the large cross section of reaction in thermal neutron region. Its comparison with ordinary irradiation is discussed. (K.I.)
