[en] This symposium was held on June 12, 1995. Lectures were given on the aseismatic safety of nuclear power stations, the verifying test on the aseismatic capability of computer system and the results, the aseismatic design of large structures, the response of buildings to earthquakes and the aseismatic design of the machinery and equipment installed in nuclear power plants, and the earthquake motion as the input for the design of nuclear power plants. The outline of the Great Hanshin Earthquake and the damages of electric facilities were reported. The aseismatic capabilities of directly installed and seismic isolated computers were compared. The plastic deformation capability of large structures decides their aseismatic capability. The aseismatic capability of nuclear power plants was reexamined by referring to the data of the Great Hanshin Earthquake. In this book, the materials for the above lectures are collected. (K.I.)
