AbstractAbstract
[en] Replacement of hydrogen with deuterium in hydrogen-bonded type ferroelectric substances induces a large increase of ferroelectric phase transition temperature. This isotope effect was explained by the proton tunneling effect. But, the O-O distances of hydrogen-bonded OH(D) of the compounds showing this isotope effect were found in a region of the Ubberohde effect (2.45-2.65 A). RbHSO4 shows an inverse isotope effect even though its O-O distance is in the above-mentioned region. The crystal structure of SO4 ion and the nature of the hydrogen atom are discussed. Neutron inconherent scattering experiment is carried out on RHS and the result of the scattering intensities is discussed preliminarily. (T.H.)
