AbstractAbstract
[en] A neutron-induced prompt γ-ray analysis (PGA) using the cold and thermal neutron guided beams of JRR-3M has been studied for the rapid and precise determination of 10B in human tissues of the boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT). About 1 g of the sample sealed in a FEP vial was irradiated with the cold or thermal neutron guided beams, and the prompt γ-ray spectrum was measured for 500 to 1000 sec. From the peak area ratio of the Doppler broadened B 478 keV to H 2224 keV prompt γ-rays, 10B concentration in the samples were determined. The method has been successfully applied to the practical samples in the BNCT treatments at JRR-2, JAERI. It becomes possible to determine more reliable neutron irradiation time in the BNCT than before. (author)
