AbstractAbstract
[en] 1995 is the first year into the 'second life' of KURRI. Following the suggestion of the Science Council, the research divisions were reorganized from old 16 divisions into 6 large divisions on April 1, 1995, and the five year modernization program of the Kyoto University reactor (KUR) and its related facilities was begun. The KUR added 1,165 h of operation during the past fiscal year. 2,002 researchers in total visited the KURRI to perform 148 experimental applications or to attend 16 symposia and 6 workshops. At the end of three year period, the scientific achievements of five research projects were reviewed during the annual scientific meeting of the KURRI held on January 25 and 26, 1996. On March 18, 1996, the KURRI celebrated the reorganization of the Center of Excellence, and the international symposium on the advance in neutron optics and the related research facilities was held for the following three days. The replacement of the heavy water facility was carried out during the reactor shutdown from December, 1995 to May, 1996. The user operation of the KUR was resumed on July 15, 1996. In this book, research activities, organization, research divisions and laboratories, the operation and development of facilities, radiation protection and monitoring, publications, meetings and seminars are reported.
