AbstractAbstract
[en] Three different types of new targets in the form of dry gel have been developed for the production of Tc-99m generators by column chromatography. The first target is prepared from MoO3, TiCI4, and NH4VO3 in the ratio 1.01:1.25:0.125 of Mo, Ti and V. The second target is also prepared from the same reagents but in the ratio 1:1:0.166 of Mo, Ti and V. The third one is prepared from MoO3, ZrOCL2.8H2O and NH4VO3 in the ratio 1.2:1:0.25 of Mo, Zr and V. Different samples are prepared from these targets at different pH and drying conditions at 70 degree C for 6 to 72 hours and the pH varied from 2.75 to 5.75. The principle of elution of Tc-99m from this type of target in the column chromatographic system is the diffusion of Tc-99m through the surface of the target. The role of vanadium in the target is seemed to enhance the elution efficiency by easing the diffusion of Tc-99m through the target surface. It has also been observed that pH, drying conditions and water content in the target affect the elution efficiency of Tc-99m to a great extent in this column chromatographic generator. As the compounds have been developed for the first time, there are parameters like pH, drying condition, water content, elemental ratio, etc, which have to be optimized for better performance of the Tc-99m column chromatographic generator. Although the report results are preliminary, the target prepared using MoO3, TiC4 and NH4VO3 in the ratio of 1.01:1.25:0.125 by keeping the pH 5.5 and being dried at 70 degree C for 24 hrs could become an important alternate way of getting Tc-99m by column chromatography
