AbstractAbstract
[en] The Centre's R and D service profile is geared entirely to these tasks. According to the new corporate image as a 'Research Centre for Technology/Economy/Environment', the range of services has been restructured to permit a clearer overview. Twelve core competences illustrate the areas in which the Centre's main strengths lie: radiation protection, pollutant analysis, toxicology and eco-toxicology, innovative instrumentation for industry and environment, information technology, technological change, GIS environmental concepts, materials development and characterization, automation of quality control, design and construction of prototypes, nuclear technology and isotope production, environmental engineering and waste management. This comprehensive range of services is geared to the requirements of both the Austrian and European markets. To permit an even more flexible approach to problems within their overall context, the new Seibersdorf service profile has been defined on an inter-divisional basis. The core competences are linked to the Centre's organisational structure in an indirect fashion only. Thus, optimum conditions have been created for successful interdisciplinary work. (author)
