AbstractAbstract
[en] In this paper, the results of numerical predictions (Finite element method) on single isolator data of High Damping Rubber Bearing supplied by Korea and USA and Lead Rubber Bearing supplied by Japan are presented. Due to symmetry in geometry and loading conditions, a 180 deg sector model has been analysed using the general purpose finite element computer code ABAQUS. The results show that for the combined compression and shear loading case the numerical predictions match well with the experimental results. The comparison is particularly very good in the shear strain range 50% to 150% which is of actual interest to design. The variation in the vertical compressive load from 0% to 200% of the design vertical load does not influence the horizontal displacement response due to shearing loads. (author)
