[en] An efficient and economical use of energy is one of the major challenges facing our society today. Lighting accounts for about 10% of the electricity consumed in the developed European countries, and even more in transition economy countries. This figure could be substantially lower, as all the potential savings have still not been exhausted. The paper presents OSRAM experiences in organising energy saving campaigns for households, industry and service sectors. The organisation and results of the energy saving campaigns for households with the energy saving bulb OSRAM DULUX EL in eastern European countries Romania and Hungary, and in more developed countries Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Norway, are shown. An energy saving project in the industry sector of Croatia is presented. (author)
