[en] At present the only point for radioactive waste storage (PRAWS) of non-Chernobyl origin in the Republic of Belarus is a special facility being under operation from 1963 and located in Sosny settlement near Minsk-city. These are two storage facilities for RAW built from a type design. Solid RAW are stored in PRAWS according to the simplified technology not including their preliminary processing and conditioning, and not answering the up-to-date international standard on RAW management. A radical reconstruction of PRAWS is envisaged with the purpose of recovery of natural systems, ensuring ecological and economical balance of future economical evolution of PRAWS, development of measures decreasing the level of the ecological danger of the planned activity of PRAWS.
