AbstractAbstract
[en] Radioisotope 45Ti is a positron emitter with a half life of 3.08 hours. Due to its short half life and high energy positron ratio (85%), radioisotope 45Ti is expected to be used for labeling HSA (human serum albumin) and DTPA (diethylentriaminepentaacetic), the result is expected as a tracer in nuclear medicine. The 45Ti was produced by irradiating scandium foil (99.9% purity) at 11.5 MeV using proton particles with nuclear reaction of 45Sc(pn) 45Ti. The 45Ti was then separated from the target by the NELSON method. Having irradiated, the scandium foil was dissolved in 2 ml of 6 M HCl and one drop of 1 M HNO3 to oxidize the titanium to +4. The solution was then evaporated and dissolved again in 6 M HCl . This step was repeated three times to remove HNO3 completely. The 45 Ti was then desolved in 2 ml of 6 M HCl and passed through AG50W X 8 column (100-200 mesh, Bio-rad, 1.9 cm i.d. x 13 cm) that already conditioned with 6 M HCl and eluted 45Ti with 6 M HCl. The 45Ti is then sterilized by filtering through 0.22 um filter papers. The saturation activity of 45Ti obtained using scandium foils at the thickness of 0,127 and 0,254 mm are 25 + 2 mCi/uA and 48 + 0.5 mCi/uA respectively. The solution of 45TiCl4 is used for labeling HSA and DTPA. The separation process was carried out in two hours and radioisotope yields is of 75 - 90%
