AbstractAbstract
[en] Among the activities comprising in the Life Management Programme for the Jose Cabrera NPP, a dossier was prepared with the title: Study of Deterioration Phenomena in the Civil Structures of the Jose Cabrera NPP, which was an overall, qualitative analysis of the ageing mechanisms which these components are vulnerable to. In this study it was estimated that the level of risk of ageing was average or low. However, in order to ensure their long term sound operation, and after completion of the Life Management Programme activity: Assessment of Maintenance Practices, the need to carry out further studies in order to adopt inspection, control and mitigating activities based on more precise information became clear. In accordance with the scope and requirements set out in Maintenance Regulations 10CFR.65, the Jose Cabrera NPP took the measure of including civil structures in the Main Component Inspection, Assessment and Monitoring Programme which falls within the framework of plant life management. This covers all structures required for plant safety and those required for its normal operation. Implementation of the structural inspection, assessment and monitoring programme for the Jose Cabrera NPP began in 1998 starting with the preparation of an Inspection Procedure to serve as a guideline in ascertaining to what extent ageing mechanisms affect components and what various mitigating control and measuring mechanisms were applicable. Next, various inspection activities were planned within what has become known as Basic Reference Inspection. (Author)
