AbstractAbstract
[en] The policies with regard to renewable energy sources in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, Texas and Wisconsin are reviewed. The prospects for renewables in Maine, Connecticut and Massachusetts are not good: in Nevada, New Jersey and Wisconsin there is still hope but confusing legislation is the obstacle. The essential features of what is called the Renewables Portfolio Standard are discussed. It is argued that a market standard will encourage investment in renewables. A system of penalties to be imposed for each required tradable credit (or kilowatt-hour if credits are not used) is discussed in relation to each state
