[en] At the end of this year, the Basic Design Optimisation Phase will come to an end. All the necessary documents needed to conclude the assessment of the concept by the French and German Safety Authorities will be released by the project. The next step to be decided is now the entering into the detailed design, which will be done after the construction of the first of a kind unit is decided in France. This is a major political decision, which cannot be achieved before the middle of next year. The status of the project at the end of the Basic Design Optimisation Phase is summarized in this paper.
