AbstractAbstract
[en] In the Kyoto Protocol three flexible instruments are embodied: joint implementation, clean development mechanism and emission trading. As far as joint implementation is concerned the Dutch are in the lead. After five years of try outs, the Economic Department is investing in real programs via the Erupt Program. This means the Dutch Government is buying a reduction of carbon dioxide using a European tender. The industry, which is using much energy, is very interested in the trade in emissions. Some companies are already trading with each other in greenhouse emissions. The Gets-program overlooks the results of trading in emissions on a European level. The outcome is promising: trading in emission can lead to a decrease of the emissions in times of economic growth
