AbstractAbstract
[en] This paper is concerned with the short-term safety upgrading of Nuclear Power Plants in Eastern Europe as part of plant lifetime management. The object of the paper is to explain how these Eastern European International projects have been established, relate their experiences and state the lessons learned. The projects considered are at Ignalina (Lithuania), Kola and Novovoronezh (Russian Federation) and Chernobyl (Ukraine). In particular an objective view is possible of the completed Ignalina project. The nature of the short-term safety upgrading work is defined, and the structure of the Project Management Unit to undertake it described. The paper shares the experiences gained and lessons learned by NNC Ltd from these projects with the purpose of assisting others working in this field. (author)
