[en] Degradation of piping in power plants caused by flow-induced metal loss phenomena such as erosion-corrosion can be effectively limited by preventive actions. For this purpose, the components possibly affected have to be identified and their risk potential has to be determined. This task can be accomplished by means of weak-point analyses, by selective wall thickness measurement programs and by other inspection measures. This paper presents the methodology applied for several years with commendable success at Leibstadt NPP in Switzerland with the help of computerized tools developed by Siemens/KWU. (author)
