AbstractAbstract
[en] The partial deregulation of the power market in California and the crisis that followed has shaded doubts on the price and supply security promises of the US electric power deregulation. Deregulation has started in 25 states and about 60% of the US population is concerned. The market is shared into about 5000 independent companies and 3200 public utility companies. Six states have decided to slow down the deregulation process after the Californian crisis. The massive development of gas power plants and the fluctuating prices of natural gas represent another threat for the future prices of electricity. In France, Electricite de France (EdF) is reluctantly dragged into the European liberalization flow. The end of the article presents different hypotheses of evolution for the French group. (J.S.)
