AbstractAbstract
[en] Conversion electron and gamma ray measurements with electrostatic and Si(Li), spectrometers, respectively, revealed the existence of the 7697±4 eV E1 nuclear transition in 158Ho with the M2 admixture less than 1x10-6. The full intensity of the transition was determined to be almost 100% per decay. Existence of the 7.7 keV transition in 158Ho solves the problem of the 'anomalously fast' first-forbidden EC, β+ transition in 158Er decay and introduces substantial changes into the accepted decay scheme of 158Er. Energies of the 24.4(2) and 71.95(5) keV transitions in 158Ho were also improved to 24 395±6 and 71 904±4 eV, respectively. For the 11.4(1) keV M1 transition in 161Ho, we improved the transition energy as 11 282±5 eV and determined the E2 admixture to be less than 0.6%. (author)
