AbstractAbstract
[en] The paper presents results of TEM investigations of the surface layer produced in a hardened 1%C, 1.5% Cr steel by dry turning. According to the present investigation the surface layer is composed of microcrystalline ferrite. This result differs markedly from the findings presented in the publications concerning machining were untempered martensite of austenite have been found, but they confirm well the results of the investigations of adiabatic shear bands formed during intensive deformation.
