AbstractAbstract
[en] Installed wind power capacity is growing at more than 20% per annum globally-for electricity generation at least. It has been harnessed for industrial processes for centuries. For the last three decades wind has been increasingly used to directly generate electricity. The technology involved in producing electricity from the wind is relatively mature however costs will be higher in Australia unless we get at least one manufacturer of large WTG's operating here. While freight costs are not a large proportion of overall costs, every cent counts in the extremely tight margins in electricity generating and the benefits of a domestic manufacturing base extend far beyond bottom line unit costs
