[en] The purpose of the Subsurface Engineering File is to supply information to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Contractor. The contractor may use this information to prepare the EIS and evaluate options and alternatives as described in Section 3 of this document. The Monitored Geologic Repository (MGR) has three subdivisions: Waste Package, Surface Facilities and Subsurface/Engineered Barrier facilities. This engineering file describes the subsurface part of the MGR which includes components of the Engineered Barrier System and those surface facilities, systems, and operations that are directly related to subsurface activities. The bases for this engineering file are the VA analyses, VA support documents and document existing prior to the VA analyses
