[en] Concentrations of 7Be, 137Cs and 210Pb in ground level air in the city area were determined in the period from 1985-1999. Samples of air were collected daily on filter paper (15 cm diameter, filter efficiency 80%) with constant flow rate samplers (average air flow 20 m3/h, average daily volume 600 m3). Samples were ashed below 400 deg C and a monthly composite sample was formed (average volume 15x103 m3). The activity of the radionuclides was determined on a HPGe detector (ORTEC, relative efficiency 20%) by standard gamma spectrometry. The average monthly concentrations of 7Be in ground level air were in the range of 2-7 mBq/m3 with pronounced one or two summer or early fall maxima and a minimum in winter. The average air concentrations for 137Cs, apart from the few-fold increase in concentration in 1986 due to the Chernobyl nuclear accident, were from 0.5-8.5 x 10-5 Bq/m3 . A spread maximum in the spring-summer periods and pronounced maxima in winters after the accident contributed to local surface dust resuspension effects were observed. The maximum concentrations for 210Pb were observed in falls, with average concentration values of 8.1 x10-4 Bq/m3 for the period. (author)
