[en] Thermodynamic calculations show that equilibrium Pco of 1.0 mbar is established at temperatures of 680, 1005 and 740 deg C respectively for the synthesis reactions of TiB2, ZrB2 and CrB2. Factors which are found to influence the final composition of the product and its phases are stoichiometry of the individual reactant, composition and homogeneity of the reaction mixture and maximum reaction temperature
