AbstractAbstract
[en] In Bulgaria the usage of ionizing radiation (IR) is widespread. 26% of the exposure of the population is due to medical radiological diagnostics procedures. But so far there is not an acting normative act regulating patient protection during medical exposure. In the three main areas of medical usage of IR: radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and x-ray diagnosis International and European requirements are covered to different extent. Taking into account the weak points in the radiation protection the competent authorities set the following tasks to be performed in a two year period: harmonization of Bulgarian legislation with the regulations of the European Union concerning protection of the individuals in medical exposure. A project is approved under the Phare program for funding the tasks. Germany has been chosen for a partner in realisation of the project
