AbstractAbstract
[en] The effect of Praseodymium doping on the electrical and magnetic properties of the bismuth-based superconductors has been investigated. The doping was done on the Calcium site ranging from x=0.00 to 0.10. For low doping percentages x<0.03, the 2223 phase still persists. However beyond this concentration the samples were dominated by 2212 phase. These results were obtained from the measurements of temperature dependence of electrical resistance and ac susceptibility of the samples. The magnetic behavior of the doping element, Pr, (a 4f rare earth magnetic element) seemed to have deteriorated the superconducting properties of the system by breaking the electron pairing mechanism. Pr doping also deteriorates the coupling of the superconducting rains, as observed by the abrupt shift of the loss peaks towards lower temperatures. (author)
