[en] The Regulation (a) stipulates details and procedures for type licensing of packagings for the transport, storage and disposal of nuclear materials and radioactive substances and for the verification and documentation of compliance of the packagings with the licensed type; (b) specifies nuclear materials and radioactive substances whose shipment requires a permit, the ways of safeguarding the shipment, and the format of the documentation which forms part of the permit application and is subject to approval; (c) specifies, in compliance with the law of the European Union, the extent of and procedures for international shipment of nuclear waste and sealed sources. The Regulation supersedes Regulations No. 142/1997 and 143/1997. (P.A.)
